‘Video’ of guard handling IV equipment goes viral
Veracity of the video clip being verified, says hospital superintendent
A screen grab of a video clip purportedly showing a security guard allegedly donning the role of a nurse, handling IV fluid administration to a woman patient at the District Headquarters Hospital here, went viral on social media on Sunday.
The shocking incident came to light on Sunday after a security guard was caught on camera, allegedly handling the IV equipment for a woman patient lying on the bed with a saline drip in the “absence of nurses”.
The incident created ripples after the video grab was circulated widely on social media.
Sources said that one of the attendants of a woman patient recorded the incident on his mobile phone at the maternity wing of the hospital late on Saturday night.
A nurse of the hospital had been caught in a controversy recently after she had allegedly clicked pictures of a woman delivering baby at the labour room in the maternity wing of the hospital and posted them on a WhatsApp group in May this year.
Inquiry ordered
The authorities ordered an inquiry into last month’s incident.
When contacted, Hospital Superintendent B Venkateshwarlu said the authenticity of the video grab showing a security guard handling IV fluid administration was being verified.
“We have not received any complaint from the patients in this regard,” he said, adding that a detailed inquiry would be conducted to ascertain the facts.
Review meetings were being held periodically to motivate the staff to achieve professional excellence and enhance the reputation of the hospital, which had recently won the first prize at the State level for conducting the highest number of normal deliveries and discouraging C-section, he said.
