TMC to offer super-speciality courses
Thoothukudi Medical College (TMC) will be introducing super-speciality courses for the first time from August.
Dean S. Balasubramanian said Doctorate of Medicine would be available in Medical Gastroenterology and Neurology, with one and two seats respectively.
Proposals had been sent for M.S. Orthopaedics with 11 seats, and M.S. ENT with five seats, and these courses were likely to be introduced next year.
Prospective students must qualify through the NEET for super-speciality courses after completion of MD.
TMC is one among several medical colleges in the State that have received approval for starting super-speciality courses. The college, which has around 650 undergraduate and postgraduate students, currently offers PG courses in General Medicine, General Surgery, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Anaesthesia with an intake of six to 10 students, which was approved in 2018.
