MGU to establish chair on Gandhian studies

To mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Mahatma Gandhi University in Kottayam has decided to establish a new chair on Gandhian studies.

A decision to this effect was made at a meeting of the varsity syndicate presided over by its Vice Chancellor Sabu Thomas here on Saturday.

The new chair, according to the varsity, aims at extending the subject’s scope by roping in international experts.

The meeting also decided to form a two-member committee to study the feasibility of establishing sub-centres of its Directorate for Applied Short-term Programmes in Ernakulam, Kottayam and Pathanamthitta districts.

Emergency steps will be initiated to address the difficulties faced by the students in remitting the varsity fees online and strict adherence to the norms to ensure financial discipline will be followed.

The meeting also felicitated Nandakumar Kalairikkal and K.Sabukuttan for their respective achievements.
