The Students Federation of India and Democratic Youth Federation of India on Wednesday launched a two-day bicycle rally to highlight their grievances.
The organisations, affiliated to the Communist of India (Marxist) wanted the government to protect educational institutions run by it.
They wanted the government to spend more to improve the infrastructure requirements of schools and colleges.
The government should rein in private managements from collecting hefty sums.
The students urged the government to develop Calve College Government Higher Secondary School and VOC Government Higher Secondary School. The age-old institutions should be protected at any cost, a SFI leader said.
