The Queen and Kate Middleton Bonded at the Chelsea Flower Show
The queen and the Duchess of Cambridge both looked quite fond of one another during a tour of the Back to Nature Garden at the 2019 Chelsea Flower Show yesterday.
In a nearly five-minute-long video uploaded to The Royal Family Channel’s YouTube page, Her Majesty the Queen arrived at the annual, five-day gardening event to inspect and take in the beauty of the outdoor festivities. After the queen did some exploration of the grounds, she met up with her grandson, Prince William, and his wife, Kate Middleton.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge greeted the queen with a kiss on each cheeks, however, the duchess added in a subtle curtsey, according to the below Twitter video captured by Emily Andrews of The Sun.
Prince William took a backseat to his wife, who looked excited to showcase her gardening work with the queen. Although the audio was hard to hear due to the shuttering of the paparazzi’s cameras in the background, it looked as if he was praising Kate’s hard work in the garden.

Both Queen Elizabeth and Kate kept the botanical aspect of the event in mind when it came to their outfits. The royal pair sported printed floral dresses, however, Her Majesty the Queen stayed true to her colorful style and added a vibrant green coat over her frock. She kept her accessories neutral with a black leather handle bag and matching loafers.
The duchess opted for a chic, high neckline dress from British label Erdem and a nude pair of Stuart Weitzman espadrille wedges. Interestingly enough, Princess Eugenie wore a similar version of this dress at St. George’s Chapel with her grandmother, the queen, on Maundy Thursday during Holy Week. (At the beginning of the YouTube video, Princess Eugenie was spotted in the background wearing a black trench coat over a blue printed dress with black flats.)
Although Kate and Queen Elizabeth rarely have joint visits together, the two royals have shown an affinity towards one another throughout the years of their relationship.
