Strictly Come Dancing’s Helen Skelton was publicly assured by pro partner Gorka Marquez that she was “beautiful”, even if she didn’t think so herself, but that the impetus to change her thought patterns about what she was capable of had to come from her. Helen has now issued a triumphant response, telling her 337,000 Instagram fans: “Sometimes you just got to get on the table and say ‘OLE’.” (sic)
You may feel like you’re not beautiful or good enough… but if you don’t believe in yourself, I believe in you.
Helen, 39, and Gorka, 34, performed on Saturday night to the Spanish tune of Tamacun by Rodrigo y Gabriela, which earnt the pair a very respectable score on the leaderboard of 29 points.
However, Gorka believed that his Celebrity SAS star partner, whose marriage broke down earlier this year, needed a boost in the self-confidence stakes.
As the pair awaited their scores, he announced passionately: “Everyone believes in you.
I know you have been having a difficult time and… you may feel like you’re not beautiful or good enough or anything, but if you don’t believe in yourself, I believe in you.”

Show host Claudia Winkleman joined in with the praise, echoing: “We all believe in you!”
Gorka continued: “It doesn’t matter how many times I say it, or the judges say it, or anybody says it.
“It’s only you who is going to be the one who can make the change and the one who needs to believe in you, because you are an amazing woman, very inspirational.
“An amazing mum and incredible dancer, so believe in you please,” he declared.
A bashful looking Helen responded to his praise by jumping onto the table as a symbol of her new-found self-confidence.
She later uploaded a photo of the emotional moment, captured while she was dressed in her Spanish-inspired dance costume, complete with red roses in her hair.
Last night, after learning that she’d made it through to Week Five, she jubilantly captioned the picture: “Sometimes you just got to get on the table and say ‘OLE’.”
It has barely been six months since she and Leeds Rhino rugby partner Richie Myler announced their shock split, but Helen is doing her best to remain buoyant and is going from strength-to-strength on the BBC dance show.
The couple announced the end of their eight year marriage just four months after Helen gave birth to their third child.
However, she posted footage on Instagram last month claiming that she was “grateful” about life as she praised her seasoned dance partner Gorka Marquez.
She hinted that dance had been getting her through her feelings of heartbreak, as she suggested that without Gorka, she could not have achieved as much as she had.
“Credit where it’s due… @gorka_marquez deserves kudos for not only getting me around the dance floor ….but on it in the first place,” she exclaimed.
Meanwhile, she seems to be getting along famously with her Strictly co-stars, after posting admiringly that her pal Fleur East had “hypnotised” her with her hips on the dance floor.
Posting photos of the pair together, she had admitted she was grateful “I get to do this [show] with pals”.
Back in April, she had announced to her followers that she was “very sad” about parting from her ex and no longer being a couple.
“[Richie] has left the family home,” she had admitted before adding: “We will be doing our best to co-parent our small children.”
