Jada Pinkett Smith has shared one of her most frank social media posts after showing off the extent of her alopecia.

The Gotham actress previously revealed she had the autoimmune disorder, which attacks hair follicles resulting in bald spots, in 2018.

In an Instagram video shared on Tuesday, Jada, 50, is seen with her shaved head and pointed to a thin bald line across her head.

She wrote: ‘Mama’s gonna have to take it down to the scalp so nobody thinks she got brain surgery or something😜 Me and this alopecia are going to be friends … period!😆.’

Jada then explained in the clip: ‘Now at this point, I can only laugh. Y’all know I’ve been struggling with alopecia and just all of a sudden one day, look at this line right here. Look at that,’ while pointing to the bald spot.

She continued: ‘So it just showed up like that and this is going to be a little bit more difficult for me to hide. So I thought I’d just share it so y’all are not asking any questions.

‘But you know mama’s going to put some rhinestones in there. I’m going to make me a little crown. That’s what mama’s going to do.’

Jada was applauded for the vulnerable post, with one fan commenting: ‘I appreciate Jada being open about her journey with alopecia.’

Another tweeted supportively: ‘I just saw video of jada talkin bout her alopecia nd i LOVE how she embraces it…I figured out last year thats how to b happy u cant fight wat u dont like make peace with it [sic].’

One other weighed in: ‘Jada is gorgeous & has a nice head shape. She doesn’t even need hair!🙌🏽 My mom also suffered from alopecia, and she said to hell with hair & shaved it all off.’

Another fan declared: ‘You are still the s**t and BOMB AF!!’

It’s been three years since Jada first opened up about her alopecia journey and revealed her hair loss was part of the reason she began wearing a turban.

‘I’ll tell you it was terrifying when it first started. I was in the shower one day and then just handfuls of hair, just in my hands, and I was like “oh my God am I going bald?”’ she explained on her Red Table Talk series.

‘It was one of those times in my life when I was literally shaking with fear.’
