Adele admits boyfriend Rich Paul warned her not to cry as she dedicates win to son Angelo

Adele has celebrated yet another Grammy win, at the awards ceremony held in Los Angeles, California, on Sunday night.

The 34 year old singer collected the award for Best Pop Vocal Performance for her 2021 lead single Easy On Me from her fourth studio album 30.

Adele was joined at the 2023 Grammys by her boyfriend Rich Paul and was seen emotional as she stepped up to the podium to collect her prize.

The Tottenham-born star admitted that partner Rich had warned her “not to cry” if she won, and it appeared the singer was having trouble with that as she gave her acceptance speech.

“Thank you! I was really just looking forward to coming tonight,” Adele said.

The Someone Like You singer dedicated her award to her 10 year old son, Angelo, before tearfully confessing: “Oh god, Rich said, ‘if you win anything tonight, don’t cry’, and here I am crying.”

Elsewhere in her speech, Adele spoke about her experience writing Easy On Me, saying: “I wrote the first verse in the shower when I was choosing to change my son’s life, and he’s been nothing but humble and gracious and loving to me the whole time.

“And I love a piano ballad winning any kind of award because it’s very old school and very brave.”

Adele finished by controversially swearing live on TV, as she told her fellow artists in the audience that she “f***ing loved” them, before leaving the stage.

Adele was also nominated in six other Grammy categories on Sunday night, which included Best Pop Album, which she lost out to fellow Brit Harry Styles.

The singing sensation looked elegant as ever at the awards ceremony as she wore a Louis Vuitton gown in deep red velvet with a sculptural off-the-shoulder neckline.

Adele had her hair styled in her signature retro waves for the televised occasion, and sported a deep red lip and matching nails.

Last night saw Adele take home her 16th Grammy, having previously won two for Album of the Year. The singer was nominated once again in this category this year for her latest album 30, released in 2021.

Adele’s appearance at the Grammy Awards comes amid a brief break in-between shows at her current residency in Las Vegas at the Colosseum in Caesar’s Palace.

The singer began her residency in November last year, after postponing her shows, and is performing up until the end of March.
